Since God is made evident in all His creation, Francis valued all of it; animals no less.  We value them too and take them into our home as pets.  We pray for them also.

Mission:

Prayers for Pets was created to help people who are grieving with loss of pets or to comfort people when their pets or other are sick.

 

Vision:

We see a world where anyone can ask for and obtain comfort when they are dealing with the loss of a Pet or any animal.

 

St. Francis’s Views on Animals

St. Francis is the patron saint of animals.  He saw God’s presence in all things, living and not.  Francis communicated with animals, prayed with them and even lectured them about obedience to God.  He referred to animals as his “brothers and sisters”.

Franciscan Friar Jack Wintz, OFM, noted that in the Genesis stories, “animals…found happiness in the first Paradise, so why would God – or anyone else – want to exclude them from the paradise that is yet to come?”  There is no direct evidence from the Bible or statement that Francis believed that animals go to heaven.  Nonetheless, we know that animals are loved by God as he loves all creatures.  We can and do pray for animals, just as we pray for other living beings.
